PRESS RELEASE: MERCHOLOGY EXPANDS

Minneapolis (8/11/16) - Merchology, a rapidly-growing ecommerce corporate gifts and apparel co-branding company, expanded its business with the acquisition of Bagy Jo Embroidery’s facility in Maple Plain today.

“Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Merchology, which we believe will deliver significant value to our customers and employees,” said Andrew Ward, Vice President of Operations. “We are proud of the innovative company our team has built and are confident that this acquisition will help us provide greater service and improved lead times for our customers, while significantly scaling our decoration capabilities.”

Merchology, which has grown over 250 percent annually in the past two years, is rapidly becoming a major disruptor in the branded apparel and promotional products industry with its pure-play ecommerce business model.

Merchology is the chosen partner of Under Armour, Patagonia, Carhartt, Mountain Hardwear, Moleskine stationery, and many more, offering over 75 well-known consumer brands and 50,000+ unique products that Merchology can co-brand with any business.

“We believe this is another step in changing the industry, and who better to do it with than a trusted long-time partner, Bagy Jo,” Merchology CEO Richard Ward said. “Shortening our lead times with the top quality embroiderer in the industry will continue our growth and shake-up of the industry.”

The employees at Bagy Jo were notified on August 1st about the ownership change. All employees will remain with the company, and the previous owners Bill and Sabrina Stevens will continue to manage the embroidery operations. “We are thrilled to bring together two family-owned businesses under one name and one entity. Our two companies have always shared a lot of the same values, and we are excited about the future,” said Sabrina Stevens.

In addition to embroidery, Merchology has capabilities in screen printing, heat transfer, and pad printing. Its full-service decoration capabilities allow Merchology to control quality, decrease order lead times, and increase capacity to accommodate its rapid growth. The combined organization will employ over 50 people, with plans to significantly expand Minnesota-based jobs in 2016 and 2017.
